Polo- No Reason to Be Interested

In reading Ron Allen's excellent column recently I am one of the few who polo fits my interest but Polo isn't for the very many. The recent show about polo on netflix was a flop and why is obvious. The majority of people are simply not interested. It has always been that way and for good reason.

Its just not easily come across in the average man in the streets life. It doesnt show up as relevant anywhere in life unless you are lookiing and even then it doesnt fit in more than a snippet of tabloid tripe. A person needs to have either a drive to become interested or is deeply seeking something new that fits into their  pre-existing modern lifestyle. For the majority  if the kids arent interested and its not taught at school, the population doesnt come across it in their daily grind and even if they did it would have no import and very few are born into it.

Particularly now that life has sped up so much no one has time to spend with those they love let alone those doing things they have no immediate connection with. Its really the last thing the greater population have no reason to be interested in. Let alone the long lists of things they do have a connection with that they havent the time to pursue due to 24/7 pressures of modern day life.

Think how specifically demanding it is to own or lease a single horse. The specialised interest and knowledge needed to even begin to become interested naturally limits peoples interest in getting involved at the starting gate.

Even as a spectator of the sport, it isnot instantly easy to enjoy. The amount of skill and excitement of what is happening on the field is not what the majority of spectators who are not enthusiasts but casual visitors come to see. Boo! They come for the sideline drink up. You know this by the amount of people with their backs to the field absorbed in the social scene or whose personal cell phone connection they can tap to help them in someway more than the horse sport.

You may as well ask why cant we get more people interested in Ikkibarna. Simply its just not something many care about even after the chance they bother to go even once to spectate.
